Arena Table Badminton Set

The oxblood leatherette case opens to a pair of silk-strung racquets, two steel net posts, net, box of six of the original Athena patented feather shuttlecocks and a book of rules, all in good, original condition. Table Badminton (Patent Rights) Ltd. of 46 Basinghall Street,London EC produced two versions of the Arena game, one in a cardboard box and priced at 25/- and the other in a leatherette case, with better quality racquets and priced at 45/-. The game was not to enjoy the success that table tennis had and, from its inception in the early 1930s, was only to survive until 1940 when the company went into liquidation.
