Bold Regency Mahogany Library Canterbury

Rectangular. To the corners turned knop finials united by reeded rails over baluster turned supports. The central slatted division with central carrying handle. Within the panelled base is incorporated a single drawer with a pair of turned handles over a carved beaded frieze. Stands upon knop turned feet with fine brass castors. In the manner of Gillow of Lancaster. (Reputedly, the ‘canterbury' was originally commissioned by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the 1780s).
