Gentleman’s Silver Pocket Watch

Swiss made case of 0.935 standard silver with the bear rampant marks. Inscribed J. Faller, Wotton-U-Edge inside case. Enamel dial with Roman numerals and seconds dial. English watch movement. Engine turned pattern to back cover with small, vacant, shield cartouche. Serial number 23494 and the initials B.S. in the rectangle. Key for winding and adjustment of time.

John Faller, b.c1854 in Baden, Germany, was a watchmaker, as was his brother, Frederick, and their nephew Johann. Coming to England in around 1876, Faller eventually moved to Wotton-U-Edge in Gloucestershire where he was the owner of the Swan Hotel in the town for round 12 years, as well as a clock-maker and repairer.
