In the Anglo-Japanese Aesthetic style in the manner of E.W.Godwin and popularised after the 1862 International Exhibition when the oriental style remained at that time perennially fashionable. The concave back panels have their original leather upholstery with incised decoration to out-swept arms with baluster turned supports to each side under turned concave ends to the arms. The inset upholstered seat cushions are over cane seats to turned under-frames with stretchers. The rear legs with fine quality cast brass box castors.
