Fruitwood Cup & Cover 'Magical' Trick Game
Turned with domed foot to baluster turned stem to
ribbed ball with turned finial. When the lid is removed
a grey ball is revealed. But it can be devious and a
sleight of hand also reveals a red or a white ball, but
only if you now how...
Difficult to date but probably English, circa 1800

Burr Birch Peg Tankard
Carved and turned Karelian burr birch peg tankard with
domed lid and foliate canopy. The thumb piece to the
lid carved as a Hippocampus over a handle carved as a
serpent, which is pegged onto the body of the tankard.
The tankard has a beaded border to both the top and the
base. The inside and the base are in pristine original
condition and looks to be unused. The polish and
patination to the outside is stunning.

Pressed Karelian Birch Circular Snuff Box
Depicting a battle scene of the last stand of Prince
Josef Antoni Poniatowski (1763-1813).
Around the top edge the faint words, C'est ici qu'il faut mourir avec
honneur' (It is here that he must die with honour) and,
beneath the image, 'Paroles de Poniatovki en se
precipitant dans l'Elster'.
Silver metal oval to the lid
inscribed with the initials J.B. Tortoiseshell lined

Walnut Carved Mirror
The frame in the form of a classical ruin with corinthian fluted columns
with carved capitols on plinth bases flanking the mirror plate. To the top an
elaborate moulded cornice entwined with overgrown fauna including vines
and, to the side, a carved palm tree. To the reverse bears a maker's
label:J.GROSSMANN HOLZWAARENFABRIK INTERLAKEN
