Quarter board in ruby red morocco with gilt lettering to cover and spine. Removed book plate to inside front cover. Title page also removed but with typed index attached to the endpaper with facsimile printing of handwritten transcripts from church records of Gloucester parishes dating from the middle of the 16th century. Sir Thomas Phillipps was a renowned bibliophile from ‘Middle Hill’ Broadway, Worcestershire.
Leather bound copies are a rarity.
