Samuel Budget (1794 - 1851) was an English merchant who, from humble beginnings, built up a large wholesale grocery business called H. H. & S. Budgett, based in Kingswood, Bristol, and covering most of the south of England and South Wales. His fair and astute business acumen and concern for his employees’ wellbeing made him not only exceedingly popular but highly successful and renowned. William Arthur (1819 - 1901) was a Wesleyan Methodist minister and author who wrote this biography shortly after Budgett’s death.

Condition: Very good with rubbing to spine head and rubbing and chipping to corners. Light sunning to top edge of both boards. Spine tight and all pages clean bar very minor spotting on endpapers. Strong boards and clean, good looking copy.
