Leather bound collection of the works of one of the greatest writers in the French language, the playwright, poet and actor J B Poquelin de Molière. The first volume with an introduction on the life of Moliere by Voltaire. Originally published in 1799. Volume 1 inscribed to endpaper Thos Higgins 1819 and the remainder, N Graham. Each volume bound in full calf with gilt to spine and corners of boards. Titles in gilt set on black hide to spine. Overall condition good with scuffing and bruising to board edges and corners and split hinges to four volumes. Each with a tight spine and ribbons present and intact. Mild tanning and foxing to pages but all clean and a handsome set.
