Vintage French WW1 cast lead vide-poche. A loose change dish with an image of three French WW1 soldiers loading a gun with a battle scene beyond. Edged in cast leaves with berries and a small handle at each end. Inscribed ‘Un vrai poilu, notre 75 en action’ and signed Carlier lower left.
Translates to ‘a true soldier, our (gun) 75 in action’.
A vide-poche is a French term for a dish wherein a gentleman would empty the contents of his pocket.
