Late 18th century naive watercolour painting of a 74 gun, two decked, third rater ship of the line. Seen here flying the Union Jack and the Royal Navy white ensign. The ship’s figurehead wears a crown, so probably George 111. Crew of about 500. The fortress on the left with lighthouse not yet identified but most likely in the Mediterranean.
Watercolour, pen & ink drawing on paper mounted on cloth and in the original ebonised reeded frame.
