From an original design as published in 1840 by Thomas King, 17, Gate Street, Spitalfields, London.
Thomas King produced some 15 pattern books between 1800 - 1851 and was also a furniture maker so this chair perhaps was made by him in his workshop or by another chair maker using his design. His catalogues were distributed far and wide, including America and Ireland. An image of this chair design is illustrated in Mr. E.King’s book, A Pictorial Dictionary of 19th century Furniture Designs. Pub’d. by A.C.C. See Plate 157.
The chair is offered for sale in completely as found condition, the original buttoned leather
upholstery is in as found condition, the frame in sound order with good colour and patination.
