A rare pair brass candlesticks, the candle holders are of octagonal form over facetted capitols and plinths to square section columns over circular dished bases, which stand upon tripod legs with pad feet. Solid casting in two sections, the bases being peened to the stems.
This unusual model is described as having been used in public places such as taverns and inns and of the first quarter of the 18th century. See Antique Brass Candlesticks 1450 – 1750 by R. Grove, Maryland USA Pub’d 1967.
