Inscribed to the reverse and signed by T Alfred West, fl. 1890-1935. Rosa Byass was the sister of West’s wife, both daughters of a wealthy Yorkshire landowner. The Liverpool artist exhibited extensively, including at The Royal Academy, The Royal Society of Oil Painters, The Royal Cambrian Academy and The Liverpool Gallery (now The Walker).
