Indian miniature painting of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Bahadur, entitled beneath the portrait in English. Gouache on paper, highly detailed and highlighted in gold, with gilt, ornate borders. To the reverse, bears the label of the print and picture dealers, The Parker Gallery, Albemarle Street, London, trading since 1750.
Man Singh l (1550 - 1614), the most powerful and trusted generals of the Mughal emperor Akbar, is depicted standing upon an ornate carpet within a walled garden, wearing a bejewelled turban and shoes, a golden jama and carrying a golden staff and a shield over his left shoulder, his head traditionally haloed.
