Antique pair Staffordshire pottery lions

Antique pair of Staffordshire pottery lions, sitting facing either dexter or sinister above a French officer wearing an Imperial uniform. They almost certainly represent the British lion and Napoleon 111 and were probably produced at the time of the Anglo-French war scare of 1860.
