Tunbridge Ware rosewood thermometer in the form of Cleopatra’s Needle. The obelisk of classical form on a plinth base inlaid with micro mosaic foliate and falling bricks detail. The design, attributed to Henry Hollamby, was made to commemorate Cleopatra’s Needle, a gift from Mahammad Ali Pasha to Britain and which was brought from Alexandria in 1877 and now stands on the Victoria Embankment in London.
