19th century oak torchere or candle stand, the circular tray top with border of carved acanthus and shell. The column with carved rope and moulded hexagonal knop over tapered and moulded urn column. Stands upon a tripod base with carved and moulded ‘C’ scroll detail to folded foot.

The design in the manner of Richard Hicks Bridgen (1785-1846) who was apprenticed to the cabinet maker and sculptor George Bullock before setting up in business on his own in Birmingham between 1819-1825 and specialising in Jacobean revival style designs notably for Aston Hall.
