Two mahogany framed 19th century Cockpen armchairs. After a Chinese Chippendale design with open lattice work backs to swept arms and supports to upholstered saddle seats. The flared bamboo style cluster columned legs are united by Stretchers of ‘H’ form. It is widely accepted that the name derives from the village at Cockpen, Midlothian, a part of the Dalhousie Estate.
